Inspectors have a wealth of knowledge on City bylaws and codes related to building. They can help you meet current safety and health requirements. Communicating with your inspector in advance greatly reduces the chances of problems arising during a field inspection.

Inspections are necessary because they assist the builder in constructing a building that meets the required structural, health, security and fire protection safety standards.
How can I contact an inspector?
Inspectors can be reached at City Hall between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., Monday to Friday before heading out for their inspections for the day. They will gladly respond to any of your questions or concerns during this time.
How can I book an inspection?
To schedule an inspection you may call our inspection line or contact the Department. You must call by 3:30 PM the day prior to the day you require the inspection. To book an inspection you can contact one of the following:

- Between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 604-927-3441 or 604-927-3451
- Fill out an inspection request form and fax it to 604-927-3445.

- Civic Address of the property
- Type of Inspection required
- Name of Owner or Contractor and their contact information
