Mission: To provide excellent and innovative Financial, Technology, Legal and Archive services which enable our customers to achieve their goals, and to provide support to Council.
Corporate Services provides support to other City departments as well as the community. Staff are responsible for five key areas - the City Clerk's Office; Financial Services; Information and Communication Technology; Legal, Bylaw Enforcement, Business Licensing and Animal Services; and Corporate Communications.
Financial Services Financial Services includes long-term financial planning, annual budget development, accounting, treasury and cash management and all statutory reporting. All purchasing requirements such as tenders, purchase orders and corporate credit card management are coordinated through this division. Financial Services staff also calculate and levy property taxes, water and sewer billing, and collect other payments to the City for items such as licences, permits and fines.
Information and Communication Technology Services
The Information and Communication Technology staff support all of the City's integrated software applications and coordinate telecommunications requirements such as telephones, cell phones and pagers. They also provide the technical support to the City's Internet and Intranet applications.
Legal, Bylaw Enforcement and Animal Shelter Services
The City's Legal and Bylaw Enforcement staff oversee bylaw enforcement and business licenses. As well, they operate Coquitlam's Animal Shelter and animal care services. The City Solicitor is responsible for legal counsel at the City.
City Clerk's Office
The City Clerk's Office is the primary communications link between City Council, government staff and the community. Clerk's Office staff are also responsible for the preparation of agendas and minutes for Council and Committee Meetings; maintenance and access to corporate records including City bylaws; administrative support to Council and its Committees; and, local government elections.
Corporate Communications
The Corporate Communications Division provides strategic advice and communications support to Council and senior management to improve the effectiveness of internal and external communications, including advertising, media relations, event management and the City website.
