When are the Council meetings aired on television? 

All Council meetings held on Mondays are televised that same evening at 9:00 p.m. and re-broadcast on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. on Shaw Cable.  Those Council meetings that are pushed to Tuesday because of holidays are not aired. 

 

When do Committee meetings take place? 

Standing Committees of Council meet once or twice a month during the day.  Advisory Committees usually meet once a month during the evening.

 

How do I contact Mayor and Council? 

You may correspond with Mayor and Council by phone,

fax, mail or e-mail. Please provide your e-mail, mailing address or phone number so that Council can respond to your questions or inquiries.

How can I join a Committee?

Coquitlam residents interested in volunteering on a Council Committee need to fill out an application form and drop it off at the Clerks Office, 2nd Floor, City Hall, 3000 Guildford Way, Coquitlam.

Appointments are made by City Council in December of each year. Committee members are appointed for a one-year term. All persons appointed to a Committee will be required to attend an orientation session in early January.

How do I appear as a delegation at a Council Meeting?

If you would like to appear before Council as a delegation, complete and return a Delegation form to the City Clerk's Office no later than 10 days prior to the Council Meeting at which you wish to appear. The Clerk will confirm your request or advise you of the date of the Council Meeting at which you may appear.

When are Council Meetings?  

City Council Meetings are scheduled for the first and third Monday of each month starting at 7:30 p.m. The Growth Management Committee and Leisure & Parks Services and Environment Committee meet on the second and fourth Monday of each month. Public Hearings to deal with land use applications are scheduled on the Thursday following the third Monday of each month. 

 

What's on the next Council Agenda or Standing Committee Agenda 

Council agendas are available on the website late afternoon on the Friday immediately preceding the meeting. 

 

What do I need to do to apply to the Board of Variance? 

You can only apply for a Board of Variance if an application for a building permit has been denied because your building plan contravenes the requirements of the Zoning Bylaw in the areas of site, size or building dimensions.  

To apply for a Board of Variance you need to:

 

  • Fill out a Board of Variance Application Form
  • Pay $100 application fee
  • Include drawings of the proposed construction with measurements in your application
