Coquitlam's goal is to build a City of Choice, where people choose to live, work and play, and it has developed strategic plans to help achieve this vision.
These plans include the Citywide Official Community Plan, the Financial Plan and the Corporate Strategic Plan. The Corporate Strategic Plan has identified 17 goals which contribute to the City's vision.
All of these contribute to building a City:
- that welcomes everyone and provides them with the opportunity to participate fully in community life;
- with a balanced transportation system that supports the fast, convenient and safe movement of people and goods throughout the City and region;
- in which residents feel safe and secure; one that builds safer neighbourhoods through community involvement;
- that balances the needs of a growing and changing community with the need to protect areas of environmental sensitivity and the need to conserve resources and energy;
- that recognizes our collective responsibility to children and youth and provides a diverse and inclusive environment that is fun, safe and accessible; and
- that builds on its strengths and competitive advantage to attract quality jobs that create a vibrant and healthy local economy.
The vision for the City's organization
Coquitlam City Council leads an organization that:
- believes in open and accessible government;
- strives to improve the quality of life for all in Coquitlam through the efficient and effective delivery of City services; and
- is accountable to the community for leadership and good governance.
