The City of Coquitlam has a number of measures in place to prepare for and respond effectively in the case of a minor emergency as well as a major disaster like a flood or earthquake. These measures include emergency plans that dictate how the City responds to everything from road closures and evacuations to fires and how the City continues to provide leadership and governance during these events. As well, the City provides Emergency Social Services for evacuees.
Another critical part of the City’s emergency program is to provide Emergency Preparedness training and seminars and tips to help individuals and neighbourhoods prepare for an emergency or disaster.
