The City of Coquitlam Gift Fund is a program that allows any interested citizen, community group, business or visitor to donate gifts to the City of Coquitlam that will enhance our parks and recreation facilities. These gifts may serve as legacies to present and future generations or simply serve to enhance leisure and parks services.
What can I contribute?
You can contribute a variety of gifts ranging from a monetary donation to a tree, shrub, bench, drinking fountain, or special project or gift of your choosing.
Where will my contribution be placed?
With the exception of memorial boulevard trees, donators can designate a location of their choice for their gift. The location will be reviewed by Parks and Open Space Services staff to ensure that the gift is appropriate for the location requested.
When can I apply to contribute a gift?
Applications are accepted year round; however, plantings of trees and shrubs may be delayed until an appropriate time of the year to ensure survival. Benches, drinking fountains, and similar gifts are ordered immediately upon approval and are installed upon receipt from the manufacturer.
How can I contribute?
Fill out an application form and mail it to the City of Coquitlam along with a cheque in the amount of your gift contribution, or call us at 604-927-6311 to have us send a donation form to you by fax or mail.
What will I receive in recognition of my contribution?
- All donations will receive a certificate of appreciation and a letter of thanks from the City of Coquitlam
- All donations in excess of $500 will receive a bronze plaque inscribed with a message designed in consultation with staff. Messages can be a maximum of 36 letters and plaques will be installed on, or next to, your gift.
- If the gift donation is a larger scale special project, recognition may include participation in an opening ceremony or public unveiling when approved by resolution of Council.
Do I receive a tax receipt for my contribution?
Tax receipts are issued for the majority of contributions and donations.
What happens if my gift is damaged?
The City of Coquitlam will repair or replace all gifts for a period of 10 years from the date of receipt of the donation. After 10 years, the City will continue to maintain the gift but will not be obliged to repair or replace damaged or deteriorated gifts.
