Information from the Open House

Existing Mundy Park Off-Leash Trail Hours

The new dog area will not replace existing off-leash hours already in place on the trails in Mundy Park (existing off-leash trail hours WILL continue).

Surface Treatment Options

Based on the feedback, dog owners preferred a combination of granular and grass surface areas in the off-leash area. They wanted a natural appearance that has interesting play features for dogs to climb on and/or investigate in park. There was also the recommendation to have good drainage throughout the park.

Entry/Exit Design

Feedback indicated that the location and double gate design were great. However dog owners mentioned that having gates that shut automatically (spring-closed gates) would be an improvement in case the gates are left open.

Additional Comments/Areas needing Further Consideration

  • Small dog/Large dog – what is the recommended size/weight.
  • Signage recommending dogs are under the direct care of their owners.

Timeline

We have started the site preparation of the new Off-Leash site. Due to the anticipated high use, this grass surface will need to be established prior to opening the park. We expect completion and opening of this site in the Summer of 2010.
