You can adopt a pet at the Coquitlam Animal Shelter located at 500 Mariner Way in Coquitlam. Come in anytime during Shelter hours and view and play with the cats and dogs that are up for adoption.
Shelters hours of operation are:
- Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
- Saturday/Sunday & Statutory Holidays 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
- Closed Christmas Day & New Year's Day
Please Note: The Shelter's viewing hours for kennel dogs have changed. We are working to give the dogs a less stressful enviroment and they will be having "Quiet Time" every day.
- Monday - Friday the kennels are closed for viewing from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
- Saturday/Sunday/Holidays kennels are closed for viewing from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

THE ADOPTION PROCESS
Applications can be emailed to animalshelter@coquitlam.ca, faxed to 604-927-7388 or brought to the Shelter at 500 Mariner Way. Applications take 24-48 hours to be reviewed and a shelter attendant will be in contact with you.
We do not do same day adoptions, ship animals or adopt outside of BC.
The costs for adoption are as follows:
- Cats: $110 plus GST
- Dogs: $150 plus GST
- Puppies (six months or less): $200 plus GST
- Kittens (six months or less): $135
If you adopt two cats or two dogs you are eligible for a discount.
- Two Cats: $198 plus GST
- Two Dogs: $270 plus GST
Other Animals
- Rabbits: $50 plus GST
- Small Birds: $25 plus GST
- Medium Birds: $50 plus GST
- Rodents: $20 plus GST
- Other small animals not listed have varying adoption fees. Please inquiry at the shelter.
