Protect your pet with a dog licence
Help Your Dog Find Its Way Home
A dog licence helps protect your pet by providing an easy-to-identify dog tag and registration with the Coquitlam Animal Shelter. If your pet is lost anywhere in the world, the fastest way to be reunited with your dog is by this dog tag and the licence.
Dog licence fees also help fund the Coquitlam Animal Shelter which protects and finds homes for stray animals in the city.
Remember your dog's licence
The first step to responsible dog ownership is licencing your dog. All dogs over the age of seven months must be licenced every year with the City ofCoquitlam. Pet owners who do not licence their dogs annually may be fined.
The City will send a Licence Renewal in December when your dog tag needs to be renewed.
Cost
The cost of licencing your pet depends on whether or not it is spayed or neutered. If your pet is spayed or neutered, you will pay a reduced licence fee. A discount on licence fees is available until April 1.
For spayed or neutered dogs, the rate is $25.00 until April 1, and $40.00 after April 1. For non-spayed or non-neutered pets, the reduced rate is $45.00 until April 1, and $60.00 after April 1.
Dog Licences expire December 31.
