About the Torch Relay
The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay will be the longest relay held within the borders of the Host Country in history. In the next few months, the Olympic Flame will visit over 1,000 communities and places of interest as 12,000 torchbearers carry it on its 45,000 kilometre journey.
Nearly 200 communities across Canada will have the opportunity to gather and participate in the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay community celebrations, and Coquitlam is one of them!
On Thursday, February 11, 2010, Coquitlam will be a stopping point for the torch relay on its way to the Opening Ceremonies in Vancouver on February 12.
And we want to celebrate! We are opening up our event so that friends, relatives and neighbours from surrounding communities can also enjoy in the experience. The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games are Canada’s Games and as many Canadians as possible should participate in the celebration!
