COQUITLAM, BC, May 31, 2017 – The final phase is underway for the formal visioning process for the northwest area of Burke Mountain and the City of Coquitlam is inviting residents to provide their feedback.

Two Community Information Sessions will be held at Victoria Hall (3435 Victoria Drive):

  • Thursday, June 1 from 4 – 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 3 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Northwest Burke Vision area includes about 400 hectares (990 acres) of mostly undeveloped lands, bordered by Pinecone Burke Provincial Park, Upper Hyde Creek, Smiling Creek and Partington Creek neighbourhoods and quarry lands. The area includes diverse landscapes including steep hillsides and streams.

When complete, the Vision will provide high-level land use, access and servicing concepts, as well as a phasing plan that will provide guidance for future planning over the next 30 years.

The Northwest Burke Vision is being developed through a three-phase process:

Phase One: development of a high-level understanding of the area’s topographical, geotechnical and environmental constraints and opportunities.

Phase Two: using the results of Phase One, identify potential land use, related public facility needs, access and utility servicing ideas and options.

Phase Three (current phase): combining the technical analysis and public feedback gathered during Phases One and Two into a draft vision document.
