by Heather Escaravage |

COQUITLAM, BC, June 6, 2017 – Two bands will face off on the scenic Town Centre Park Plaza stage for audience votes at Coquitlam Celebrates Canada Day this year.

A battle of the bands showcasing Canadian hits will headline at the City’s ninth annual free Canada Day event, a day of live entertainment on two stages, multicultural and children’s activities, artisans, food and beverages, and a spectacular fireworks finale over Lafarge Lake. Typically drawing more than 70,000 people, the event has been named one of Metro Vancouver’s 20 best festivals by Business in Vancouver

The free festival will kick off in Town Centre Park at 12 p.m. with a procession that starts at the park’s east entrance on Community Drive, winds through the festival grounds and ends at the Plaza Stage. TD Bank Group recently signed on as the corporate partner for the Plaza Stage, which will host a variety of dance and musical performances starting at noon.

Recognizing Canada’s 150th anniversary, there will be a special focus on Canadian music this year, including the Soundtrack Canada tribute to Canadian singers and songwriters and a Canadian-themed battle of the bands headlining act featuring Off the Record and The Ticket.
