Kaleidoscope Arts Festival – This Weekend!

COQUITLAM, BC, Aug. 9, 2017 – Join in the celebrations this Saturday as Coquitlam’s Kaleidoscope Arts Festival opens the gates to one of Metro Vancouver’s most anticipated events of summer.

This free festival, presented by Kia West and produced by the City of Coquitlam, includes live music across two stages, featuring headliner Bif Naked, plus performances throughout the day by The Matinée, The Paperboys, West My Friend, Derrival and Jennifer Hayes.

The festival site at Town Centre Park also includes an Art Zone, Artisan Market and multiple dining options in Food Truck Alley. Adults can also purchase Lonetree cider and craft beer from Hearthstone Brewing and Mariner Brewing, Coquitlam’s first craft brewery.

Other free highlights include:

  • The Big Topp Show: Highly skilled performers conduct amazing feats involving circus acts, music and theatre.
  • The Red Ball Show & Workshop: Dianna David’s magnetic spirit and multiple talents allure audiences through a routine that fuses dance with juggling and comedy.
  • V’ni Dansi’s Louis Riel Métis Dancers: A unique performance dedicated to sharing the dances, stories and culture of the Métis.
  • Musical Experience with Long & McQuade: Try out a variety of instruments, from flutes to trombones, with the help of experienced staff.
  • The Creative Colours of Canada with Place des Arts: Add your own thread to a commemorative flag tapestry in this collaborative community art project.
  • Origami Art with Place des Arts: Craft your own origami paper heart necklace using ribbon and origami papers.
  • Body Art: Get your face painted or opt for some temporary body art.
  • Tiny Story Writing with the Coquitlam Public Library: Learn about the art of the “tiny story” and to craft your own tiny story.
  • Watch for roving entertainers, the Dragonflies.
  • Pop by sponsor tents from Coast Capital Savings to make a set of cool sunglasses, and by Noura Homes to make a bird house.

It takes place at Coquitlam’s Town Centre Park from 2-10 p.m., with free parking off Trevor Wingrove Way, located a short walk from Lafarge Lake-Douglas SkyTrain station.
