New Garbage/Reycling Collection Schedule Comes Into Effect Monday, March 12

by Heather Escaravage |

COQUITLAM, BC, March 8, 2018 – Coquitlam residents are reminded that changes to the City’s garbage collection schedule start Monday, March 12.

In an effort to help minimize wildlife conflicts, the revised schedule splits garbage zones into a morning and afternoon collection.

These changes also affect recycling collection, which is not administered by the City, but rather, is a service provided to Coquitlam residents by Recycle BC at no cost to the resident.

Morning collection zones, which have been identified as wildlife-prone areas – including Burke Mountain, Westwood Plateau, Eagle Ridge, Ranch Park and Chineside –will be targeted for the earliest pick-up. In the morning collection areas garbage and green waste must be at the curb by 7:30 a.m. (recycling by 7 a.m.) to ensure collection.

In the afternoon collections areas garbage and green waste must be placed at the curb by 11 a.m. (recycling by 10 a.m.) to ensure collection.

Garbage, green waste and recycling may not be placed at the curb before 5:30 a.m. in any collection zone.

More information on the new garbage collection schedule is available on the Curbside Collection webpage
