March Mice Madness

by GS GS |

COQUITLAM, BC, March 14, 2014 – The Coquitlam Animal Shelter is looking for loving adoptive homes for some pet mice that were abandoned in Mundy Park. On Sunday, March 9, 2014, the Animal Shelter received a box with over 45 mice in it from a park user who had discovered it abandoned and unattended in the park.

Animal Shelter staff have been caring for the mice ensuring that they have appropriate food, water and safe, adequate cage spaces. A veterinarian will be conducting check-ups on all the mice to ensure they are healthy and to confirm their genders. The mice include male and female adults and juveniles.

The Shelter will be looking for adoptive homes for the mice and anticipate that some will be ready to go by Sunday, March 16, 2014. If you are interested in adopting a mouse, please contact the City of Coquitlam Animal Shelter, 500 Mariner Way, 604-927-7387. A “Small Animal Adoption Application Form” will need to be completed and approved before the mice can be adopted.

The Animal Shelter would also welcome any donations to assist in housing and caring for this large number of mice. Donations can be made online

At Coquitlam's Animal Shelter you can adopt a pet, report a stray or lost pet, volunteer or donate to the animals, and visit the shelter. Plus, learn about owner responsibilities, dogs off leash and the City's animal care policies.
