Coquitlam’s Town Centre North Field Resurfacing Begins

by GS GS |

COQUITLAM, BC, June 17, 2014 – Town Centre North Field at Coquitlam Town Centre Park is under construction and being converted to an artificial turf surface. The project will replace the existing natural turf field in its entirety.

The North Field is currently a large natural grass playing area that has traditionally served the sports of soccer and baseball. The project, when completed will includes over 13,500 square meters of artificial turf and new lighting to increase the hours of field use available to sports users.

The primary intent of the project is to provide a flexible practice/training field for the primary sports currently using this field, soccer and baseball. The new turf surface will be built without any permanent game lines or pitch perimeters other than an encompassing boundary line in order to facilitate these sports, various age groups, various practice configurations and field sizes.

The North Field will have strong connections to existing Cunnings Field to the west, and will continue to be served by parking lots east, southwest and the upper parking lot to the northwest.

Short-term disruptions to parking and pedestrian connections are minimal with park pedestrians being re-routed around the project. The work is anticipated to wrap up by October in time for the soccer season.
