Tree Pruning and Removal in Leigh and Rochester Parks

COQUITLAM, BC, Thursday, February 19, 2015 – In preparation for future park development to begin later this year, some selective trees and shrubs in Leigh and Rochester Parks will be removed in the coming weeks.The work is being undertaken and is anticipated to be complete prior to the bird nesting window which begins in March.

The City is currently in the process of developing detail designs for Leigh Park located at 3420 Roxton Avenue and Rochester Park at 1390 Rochester Avenue.
The approved conceptual plans for Leigh Park include a picnic area with open space, off-road cycling skills area, a designated dog off-leash area and walking trails. Rochester Park conceptual plans feature an enhanced water play area, youth activity and social area, play area for children, an enhanced trail system, washroom, picnic shelter, various viewing opportunities and improved parking facilities.

The park development plans aim to work with and complement the natural features in both parks.

The construction for both Leigh and Rochester Park is expected to begin in the summer of 2015. For more information on both park projects please visit www.coquitlam.ca/parkprojects.
