Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Now at Coquitlam City Hall

by GS GS |

COQUITLAM, BC, Monday, March 16, 2015 – Coquitlam now has an electric vehicle charging station at City Hall for both public and City staff use.

Located in the covered visitor parking on the ground floor with access off Burlington Drive, the two stalls are reserved exclusively for electric vehicle charging. One stall will be available for the public and staff to use for up to two hours of charging at a time. The second stall will accommodate the City’s electric fleet pool vehicle. All public electric vehicle charging stations can be found at www.plugshare.com.

This initiative builds on the City’s Green Fleet Policy, Community Greenhouse Gas Reduction Strategy and corporate commitment to reduce Green House Gas emissions from City operations by 30% by 2015. The City has undertaken a number of fleet management initiatives relating to environment, climate change and sustainable energy including pilot-testing electric vehicle (EV) technology over the past several years with five hybrid electric vehicles and two electric ice-resurfacers among other measures. More details can be found at www.coquitlam.ca/ecofleet.
