Coquitlam Holding Abundant Communities Info Session

COQUITLAM, BC, May 19, 2015 – Coquitlam is inviting residents and community organizations to attend an Abundant Communities information session where they can explore ways to strengthen neighborhoods, connect with neighbours, increase community involvement and enhance community safety:

  • Date: May 23
  • Time: 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • Location: Place Maillardville Community Centre
    1200 Cartier Avenue, Coquitlam
  • Registration is free but RSVP is appreciated due to limited space (visit www.coquitlam.ca/signmeup, bar code 529281).

The Abundant Communities Initiative is citizen-led and helps residents shape neighbourhood life according to their vision and links residents to existing groups and assists with the development of newly-formed groups. 

Attendees at Coquitlam’s information session will hear success stories and lessons learned from similar communities, and can sign up for for future workshops designed specifically for the needs of the community. The City is encouraging citizens who wish to take an active role in strengthening their neighbourhood and their connections to participate. 

Coquitlam already has many opportunities for residents to get engaged within their specific neigbourhood or community:

  • Host a block party 
  • Join Block watch 
  • Adopt-a-Trail 
  • Adopt-a-Street 
  • Join Snow Angels
