Volunteers Sought for 2018 Advisory Committees and Boards

– Interested in volunteering your time, sharing your expertise and helping your community? The City of Coquitlam is seeking volunteers for its 2018 Advisory Committees and Boards.

City Council is inviting Coquitlam residents and those representing organizations operating in Coquitlam to submit applications to serve on the 2018 Council Advisory Committees and Boards.

These committees provide information and well-considered advice on issues affecting Coquitlam for the consideration of City Council at staff. They also provide committee and board members a unique and meaningful way to share their expertise and insights to help shape their community.

The 2018 opportunities include:

  • Board of Variance
    • Culture Services Advisory Committee
    • Coquitlam Public Library Board
    • Multiculturalism Advisory Committee
    • Riverview Lands Advisory Committee
    • Sports Advisory Committee
    • Sustainability & Environmental Advisory Committee
    • Universal Access-Ability Advisory Committee

Advisory Committee meetings are typically held on a monthly or bi-monthly basis and take place on a weekday evening.

How to apply and criteria

Those interested in this opportunity are required to submit an application form and résumé that demonstrates passion for the community as well as any knowledge relevant to their committee(s) of interest.

  • Applicants may not be employees of the City of Coquitlam.
  • Applicants must live in the City of Coquitlam or be a representative of an organization operating in the City of Coquitlam.
  • Applicants of all ages, genders, neighbourhoods, ethnic origins, income levels, sexual orientations and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply, in order to appoint representatives of the broader community, and to address issues of those communities.
  • Applicants should be able to serve for the full term of the appointment (January – December 2018).

Completed applications must be submitted online or postmarked by Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017.
