Final Weeks of Additional Curbside Collection for Fall Leaves

by Robbin Whachell |

COQUITLAM, BC, Nov. 16, 2017 – Coquitlam residents are reminded that they have until Nov. 24 to take advantage of the City’s additional curbside collection for fallen leaves and other yard trimmings.

Coquitlam residents receiving solid waste collection from the City can put out unlimited yard trimmings for curbside pick up along with their Green Cart. Residents should note that a separate truck collects the excess yard trimmings and may arrive later than the regular Green Cart collector.

Set-out options for additional yard trimmings:

  • Place yard trimmings – like leaves, prunings and small branches – in kraft paper bags.
  • Bundle branches. (Bundled branches must be less than 7.5 cm (3 in.) in diameter and no more than 1 m (3 ft.) in length.)
  • Use old garbage cans with a Green Can sticker.

In addition to your Green Cart, place any extra yard trimmings at the curb by 7:30 a.m. on your collection day. Bundles and containers must not block sidewalks, laneways or streets and can weigh no more than 20 kg (44 lbs) each. Sod, rocks, soil and plastic bags are not accepted.

While you may put out the additional yard trimmings in advance of your collection day, the containers must not contain food scraps. Please be sure to keep any food scraps in a secured Green Cart and use the additional service for yard trimmings only.

Coquitlam’s Seasonal Unlimited Yard Trimmings program runs twice a year – once in the spring and again in the fall.
