Animals for Adoption

Viewing: Cat

Kittens!

The shelter currently has some kittens looking for their new homes. Come up to the shelter to see what we have waiting for their new homes!

Please note...the kittens we have at the shelter are not the ones in the picture. We use a stock photo since there are just too many kittens to post!

All the animals that arrive at the Shelter are stray. The information that we have on the animals has been gathered since their arrival at the Shelter, with the help of our volunteers. We do our best to assess the animals and disclose everything we know regarding health and temperament to interested adopters.

Adoption applications are available at the Shelter only. The application review process can take between 24-48 hours. The Shelter does NOT do same day adoptions.

If you have questions or concerns please contact the Animal Shelter at 604-927-7387 (604-927-PETS) or animalshelter@coquitlam.ca

Fraser

Fraser is a handsome and friendly boy who always comes running for a cuddle. He's a fairly young cat, likely around one year old and in good health. He's had a few issues with one of our other boy cats, but it's likely just because they are both freshly neutered. Fraser might prefer a home with a female cat and would also likely do well in a home with older kids as he's been gentle when he plays.

Trooper

Poor Trooper had a bit of a rough time adjusting to shelter life, it's taken him awhile to adjust to this busy place! But now we are seeing the real Trooper, a sweet and cuddly boy who will come out and rub up against your shins to get some attention. Trooper is likely around 10 years old but in good health, he's even lost some weight since arriving. Trooper isn't a big fan of the other cats and tends to keep his distance, he may be happiest in a feline free home.

Dee Dee

DeeDee is a shy little girl who is still getting used to all the activity at the shelter. She arrived with some of her siblings and we often find them all snuggled up together. Dee Dee will hiss at you, but she doesn't really mean it, because she'll then let you pet her. She would do best in a home with another friendly feline, and no kids.

Charlie

Pearl and Charlie came to the shelter together and we are assuming they are brother and sister. The two were very scared and it's obvious they didn't get much human socialization when they were young. Now that they have had some time to get used to the shelter we've found they are coming around and beginning to trust people. Pearl is the more confident of the two and has made friends with some staff and volunteers, but can still be a bit wary of strangers. Charlie still tends to watch us all from a distance, but is no longer hiding and we often find him lounging out in the open. Pearl and Charlie do tend to gravitate to each other and we've found them cuddled up, but we are also open to seperate homes as it could benefit them to be less dependant on each other. A friendly feline companion in their new home would make the transition much easier!

Zipper and Bootsie

Zipper (tortishell) and Bootsie arrived together after their owner passed away. They were very scared at first but Zipper has settled in and is doing well, while Bootsie is still very shy (she wouldn't come out to get her picture taken). Both girls are declawed and will need to be strictly indoor only cats as they have no means to escape or defend themselves. Zipper is very affectionate and cuddly and much more outgoing. Bootsie is cuddly, but you have to go to her on her terms and be slow and gentle. The girls have been together their whole lives and we hope to find them a home together. The girls are around 12 years old but are in good health.

Janet

Janet is a spunky and talkative little cat with a very outgoing personality. She's always looking for affection and will follow you around to get all she can. Janet is a young girl, likely between 10-12 months and still has lots of kitten like energy. She's been doing pretty well around the other cats, but seems most comfortable with the boys.

Jersey

Jersey is a sweet but shy boy who was trapped after he was seen hanging around a local neighborhood. Jersey has slowly become more confident around people and is enjoying cuddles. He's more comfortable around other cats so we'd love to see him adopted to a home with a feline friend.

Katniss

Katniss came to our attention almost a year ago after moving into a residents shed to have kittens. After numerous attempts to catch her we finally managed to get her and her three kittens. Katniss had obviously been out on her own for some time as she is very timid around people, but seems to prefer men to women. We would love to find Katniss a quiet and easy going home where she can relax and enjoy life. She gets along well with the other cats and even cuddles up with the other scardey cats.

Spunky

Spunky came to the shelter after his owner passed away and has had a hard time adjusting. He's starting to relax and we're happy to see him happier. Spunky needs a patient and quiet home that will allow him the time to adjust yet again to a new enviorment. Spunky is quiet and mellow and just wants a nice quiet cuddle. He sticks to himself mostly but may be okay in a home with a cat that has a similar temperment.

Flynn

Flynn is a handsome little cat who is a bit scared of being in this new enviroment. He's found some comfort cuddling up with his friends and would love to find a new home that has a feline companion. Flynn needs a home that is quiet and low energy to let him come out of his shell at his own pace. He loves having his cheeks rubbed once he knows he can trust you.

Lara

Lara is a sweet girl who arrived at the shelter with a number of siblings who have all been adopted. Lara had a hard time adjusting to shelter life and spent some time in a foster home. We believe that the cats must have had almost no socialization as kittens and it can take some cats years to overcome their fears. Lara is still a shy cat, but with a gentle hand and a few treats you can win her over.

Lara would do best in a home with another cat as she is very comfortable with other cats. There are a few at the shelter currently that she is quite bonded too. Lara would be a candidate for the shelter's Foster Program, please contact the shelter for more info.

Hayley

Hayley is a sweet girl with a gentle disposition who was found near a local mall. We can't imagine why someone wouldn't come looking for her as she is such an affectionate and beautiful cat. Hayley isn't as fond of cats as she is of people so might need to be the only cat in the home, or live with a mellow male cat.

Kale is a handsome boy who can be a bit timid at times, but really wants to make friends. He gets along well with the other cats, especially the friends he arrived at the shelter with. Kale would love to find a home with one of his pals, or another friendly cat. He would likely do best in an adult home as small children might scare him right now.

Bento

Bento is big girl with a sweet disposition. She's adjusted well to shelter life and is more mobile than she looks! We often find Bento on the top of kennels or cat trees so her weight doesn't slow her down. Bento's a friendly and chatty cat who would likely do well in just about any home. She's keeping to herself but is co-existing well with the other cats.

Montana

Montana is a handsome boy who was found living in an abandoned lot and was rescued by a volunteer. He settled into shelter life quickly and actually seems to be enjoying it here! Montana is a mellow and laid back guy who loves a good chin rub. Montana has been great around the other cats and would do well in a multi cat home.

Poor Spice is having a hard time adjusting to shelter life. She sticks to herself in her kennel and won't venture out, seems like she's not a fan of other cats! Spice is affectionate with people and loves it when she gets some special one on one attention. She would do best as the only cat, in a fairly quiet home.

Carrie

Carrie is a spunky and fiesty young cat who is likely around 8-10 months old. She's an active girl who still has lots of kitten energy and playfulness and would do well in a home with adults or older children as she can play a bit rough. Carrie hasn't made friends with any of the other cats yet and can get a little snarky when they get too close. She might be best in a male cat or as the only feline in the home.

Sal

Poor Sal is finding shelter life a bit tough, he's quite overwhelmed and scared. He tends to hide in safe spots, usually with one of the cats he came to the shelter with. He's already improved by being out in the open and we have no doubt he'll come even farther in no time. It's a pretty scary place to find  yourself when you are a shy guy! Sal would need a quiet and low energy home that will allow him to continue to grow more confident.

Annie

Annie is a shy little girl who arrived at the shelter with her siblings, who she's still quite bonded to. Annie is the more outgoing of the cats and we've seen her start to adventure out from her hiding spot. Slow and steady is the way to win this little one over. We would recommend she go to an adult only home as kids would easily overwhelm her with their energy.

Wendel

Wendel is a nervous boy who was found living behind a dumpster with his brother, who's now been adopted. Wendel needs a very patient and quiet home that will help him become a more confident cat. He would likely do well in a home with another cat that can take him under it's wing.

P.J

P.J is a big handsome boy who has quickly won over the staff and volunteers. He is extremely affectionate and is the first to greet you at the door and rub against your legs. P.J loves to cuddle and will even roll over for a belly rub. He can be a bit chatty so needs an owner who doesn't mind a slightly vocal cat. P.J has been getting along well with the other cats and woudl do just fine in a multi cat home.

Lynx

Lynx is a beautiful girl who arrived at the shelter last year in rough shape. We are guessing she was hit by a car and had some damage to her tail, which had to be amputated. There was some nerve damage done which has resulted in Lynx being slightly incontinent. She does go to the box, but sometimes things just happen and we don't think she realizes. Lynx is one of the friendliest cats and will jump up on your lap or climb on your shoulder for attention. She is playful and loves the other cats, especially kittens!

Lynx does require a special diet for urinary tract health to ensure she doesn't get a bladder infection. Lynx would be a candidate for our Foster Program, contact the shelter for more info!

Pansey

Pansey was pretty scared when he first came to the shelter, but is starting to relax and show us how sweet he is. He has a little chirpy meow when he's talking to you, that doesn't match his big body at all! He will let you scratch his cheeks once he knows he can trust you and we know in no time he'll be much more confident. Pansey likes the other cats and we often find him snuggling with his feline friends. A quiet home might be best for Pansey at this point, while he continues to become more comfortable.
