Our water is collected from rainfall, snowmelt in three watersheds in the north shore mountains, and flows to us through an enormous network of reservoirs, pumping stations and water mains, which belong to the Metro Vancouver Regional District and the City of Coquitlam. The flat rate water fee is made up of two parts:
- 51% of the water fee is paid to Metro Vancouver to cover the costs of running the regional supply system including water treatment plants that deliver the water to the City of Coquitlam
- 49% of the water fee covers City costs for pumping stations, reservoirs and pipe systems to get the water to your home.
| The garbage & recycling fee for single family homes covers:
- The costs to pick-up the garbage & recycling from your home
- The fees paid to Metro Vancouver to dispose of the waste at the transfer station
- The costs for community education, Bear Aware and yard trimmings programs
- The costs to operate two recycling depots

| Residences with Secondary Suites Properties with secondary suites receive additional charges for water and sewer. For enquiries relating to charges for secondary suites, please call: 604-927-3423 | Condo Owners
2012 Flat Rate Recycling Charge: $39
Condo owners may see a “Recycling Cart” or “Recycling Blue Box” charge on their Utility Bill. If you see this charge, your strata council has contracted the City of Coquitlam to pick-up the recycling from your building. These recycling charges are separate from the private garbage services in your building. |
