Water Main Flushing

The water main flushing program is to improve water quality in the City’s water mains. The program takes place from the fall to the spring.

Flushing could cause pressure changes, some discolouration, and sediment in the water from the taps in your home or business. This will be for a short time only. If your water looks cloudy, you can clear it up by running a cold water tap for about 30 minutes. Running the cold tap in your bathtub is suggested to avoid clogging screens in faucets.  Avoid running hot water until the cold water has cleared up. This is to avoid filling your hot water tank with dirty water.

Current Water Main Flushing

Flushing is happening from April 22 to May 10 in the area outlined in the Water Main Flushing Area Map.

The Water Main Flushing Area Map is also advertised in the local newspapers.
