Place Maillardville Playschool Cultural Parade – September 26, 2014

Place Maillardville Community Centre's French Playschool will be hosting a Cultural Parade. Children, 4 to 5 years old, will dress up in their own ethnic attire and wave flags representing their various countries. Enjoy their French songs as they march. The parade will be at Place Maillardville Community Centre and Laval Square.

This event celebrates Culture Days.

Mackin House Museum Tours – September 26 & 27

Experience Coquitlam's heritage and come visit Mackin House. They'll be open for tours with heritage crafts and activities during Culture Days.

  • Friday, September 26,  11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
    Learn how to make beeswax candles; limit one candle per person.
  • Saturday, September 27,  12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
    Learn how to make butter with a churn and sample some freshly made butter.

History

The Mackin House heritage home was originally built in 1909 to house some of the most prominent members of the rapidly growing Fraser Mills Company. Since then it has become a landmark in Coquitlam’s historic Maillardville community. Read more

Celebrate Culture Days at Glen Pine – September 26, 2014

Celebrate Culture Days at Glen Pine with an Open House that explores all the fun, entertainment and social interaction in our 50 Plus multicultural community. There will be hands-on activities, an opportunity to win tickets to enter into special draws by trying out, participating and bringing a friends to the Activity Group Try-its as well as live music.

Crafters, quilters, painters, artists and other hobbyists will display and demonstrate their talents. The Computer Room will be open for questions about classes offered. Come for an orientation at the Alpine Fitness Centre.

We encourage wearing traditional clothing from any country or your home country. A special dinner and drinks will be available, for purchase, at the Lemon Tree café from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
