Gardening Tips

SunflowerHarvesting Sunflower Seeds

How do you know sunflowers are ready to harvest for seeds?

You need to wait until the petals begin to drop and the back of the flower head turns yellow. Cut the flower heads leaving about 4 inches of stem. Then tie a paper bag around the flower head and let it hang in a well-ventilated area for a few weeks to dry. The bag will catch any loose seeds.

If you have question or require further information, please feel free to email our garden staff.
