Financial Assistance for Recreation – ​Application Process

Applications are accepted and ​processed year round and successful recipients are informed by mail or email within 3 – 4 weeks. Application processing times vary and they are based on the volume of applications received and the time of the year. Every application is important to us and they will be processed in the order we received them to ensure fairness to everyone.

  • Get Connected, Get Active Information Session – Evaluation
    If you are a new applicant​ who recently attended ​a Get Connected, Get Active Information Session, please take a moment to complete our online evaluation form. Your comments and feedback will help us to improve and enhance the information we provide. 

Who is eligible to apply?

Canadian citizens and permanent residents living in the City of Coquitlam who are:​

  • Low-income individual/family
    As a guideline, please refer to the Low Income Cut-Off Table.
  • Receiving Government or Income Assistance 
  • Receiving Employment Insurance (EI)
  • Receiving Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS)
  • Receiving Shelter Aid for Elderly R​enters (SAFER) 
  • Participating in the Government of Canada Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP)

Who is not eligible to apply?

  • Temporary residents (visitors), including those on a study or work permit 
  • Immigrants classified as business class, an investor or entrepreneur​

How to Apply

There are 4 different ways to apply to the Get Connected, Get Active – Financial Assistance for Recreation Program. The application process depends on which group you select below.

Next Steps

Complete all the required steps and provide the appropriate documentation to ensure your application is not delayed. Staff will contact you about your application outcome as well as the next steps. 

If you qualify and do not have a ONE PASS Card

  • Visit your nearest community centre, rink or indoor pool facility
  • Purchase a $10.00 ONE PASS membership within 5 weeks of approval, if applicable. Then have your photo taken and card printed out.
  • For the 50 free drop-in passes, you will need to have your photo taken and then card printed out. The passes will be loaded on the ONE PASS card. 
  • Each family member needs to have their photo taken if you have chosen the ONE PASS or 50 free drop-ins.
  • ONE PASS membership is non-transferable and non-refundable.
