Get your little one ready for life-long learning in our play-based kindergarten-prep program.

Play and Learn ProgramPlay & Learn

A recreation-based preschool program with an emphasis on imaginative play and child-led discovery. We offer a fun and safe environment for children to learn, grow and develop vital life skills and competencies, and nurture confidence through independence and new friendships. We follow a play-based curriculum that includes a daily physical activity component. Children must be fully potty trained prior to starting this program.

Teen FitnessJust for YOUth Fitness

Learn new workouts to keep your body strong and healthy in our youth-specific fitness classes. 

Ballet Fit (13 – 15 yrs)

This ballet-inspired class uses lightweight equipment for a full-body workout to increase flexibility. Focus is on toning the lower body and core muscles. Come to our FREE try-it session on Saturday, Sept. 8 to see if you like it! | Register Now

Skills & Drills: Athletic Conditioning (13 – 15 yrs)

Work on drills to increase your fundamental skills for life-long participation in sports. A certified trainer will guide you through strength, cardio and conditioning drills to enhance your agility, coordination and speed. This is a great class for teens who want to stay active outside of a structured sport environment. | Register Now

Teen Weight Training (13 – 16 yrs)

Our certified instructor will teach you the benefits of designing a weight training program that will work for your body. Learn proper body mechanics, the tools to use to get a great workout and nutrition tips to meet your body’s needs. Come dressed to exercise as each class includes a great workout. | Register Now

ActivAge™ & Choose to Move

walkingCoquitlam is partnering with BC Recreation & Parks Association (BCRPA) to bring you two new programs to help older adults become more active.

ActivAge™

Are you 65 or older? Wanting to get more physically active? Then ActivAge™ is for you. This fun and social program will get you moving in a relaxed and inviting class environment with like-minded people. You have two different program options to choose from:

  • Option 1 focuses on improving activities of daily living, strengthening muscles used day-to-day (e.g. bending, lifting, stretching, etc.) | Register Now
  • Option 2 focuses on exercises that will enable you to become more involved with other activity programs or sports | Register Now

Each option runs once a week for one hour over 12 sessions. The sessions include discussions and handouts to help you improve your overall health and physical well-being. | Learn More

Choose to Move

Are you 65 and older and looking for motivation to become physically active? Choose to Move will help you make daily physical activity a habit, in ways that make sense for you. It's a free and flexible program that provides you with motivation and support to become more active. You'll receive both individual and group support:

  • Work with a trained activity coach to develop and stick to a physical activity plan made just for you
  • Join a group of other Choose to Movers to share successes and challenges

With the help of your activity coach and support group, you will find the motivation and accountability you need to achieve your goals.​ | Learn More | Register Now
