Revenue Recovery Grant
The Revenue Recovery Grant was offered in the spring of 2022 to support local non-profit organizations that have identified a loss of expected revenue in 2021 or 2022 that was a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The goal of this grant was to offset some of the unanticipated financial challenges faced by Coquitlam-serving organizations due to cancelled events, a decrease in funding from other sources, or a decrease in expected numbers of program registrants. Other reasons for lost revenue may be considered, but must clearly be a direct result of COVID-19.
The Revenue Recovery grant intake has now closed. Applicants can expect to hear the results of their application in May 2022.

- The City will accept applications between March 14 and April 11, 2022
- $50,000 has been allocated from the Casino Community Capital Fund for the Revenue Recovery Grant.
- In most cases, applicants may receive a maximum of $5,000.
- In cases where organizations serve people outside of Coquitlam, the maximum amount of funding may be limited to the proportion of ongoing activity that serves Coquitlam residents.
- Funding decisions will be made by a committee of City staff, based on the eligibility guidelines in this document. The committee will review completed applications approximately two weeks after the closing date.
- The Revenue Recovery Grant is a one-time funding mechanism that supports registered not-for-profit organizations adapting to the fiscal challenges of COVID-19. The Revenue Recovery Grant is not a source of reliable funding for project or operational expenses.
- The Revenue Recovery Grant is not a substitute or replacement for the Spirit of Coquitlam Grant. The City of Coquitlam is accepting Spirit of Coquitlam Grant applications during the same period. Eligible organizations may apply for both grants at the same time.
- Submitting an application for a Revenue Recovery Grant is not a guarantee of funding from the City of Coquitlam.
- Priority will be given to Coquitlam-based organizations with a history of serving Coquitlam residents.
- Priority will be given to organizations that did not receive Revenue Recovery funds through the Community Support and Recovery Plan (CSRP) grant.
- A final activity report must be accepted by the City before additional grant applications from the same organization will be considered, with the exception of the 2022 Spring Spirit of Coquitlam grant.
- Eligible applicants are not-for-profit organizations operating in a professional manner, incorporated under the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, or under the equivalent provincial or territorial legislation.
- Organizations must be in good financial standing with the City in order to be eligible for Revenue Recovery funding.
- Organizations that have not fulfilled the requirements of previously awarded City grants, including the submission of a final activity report, are not eligible for Revenue Recovery funding.
- Organizations that have an ongoing agreement in place with the City of Coquitlam are not eligible for Revenue Recovery funds.
- Only revenue losses in 2021 and 2022 are eligible for Revenue Recovery funding.

- Applicants must provide annual financial reports and income statements for two years (either 2019/2020 or 2020/2021) before the year targeted for Revenue Recovery funding, and either the balance sheet and income statement for the most recently completed fiscal year OR the forecast for the current fiscal year.
- Applicants must clearly demonstrate how COVID-19 has contributed to the revenue shortfall.
- Organizations should only apply when they have the required information and can fully answer the questions on the application.
- Due to demand, staff may not be able to follow-up with each applicant for clarification or additional information; therefore, applicants are advised to submit complete applications.
- Applicants must clearly demonstrate how financial support will enable the organization to continue operations.
- Organizations that are eligible for other local, regional, provincial or federal funding should access those resources. Applicants are expected to have applied to similar funding programs before applying for Revenue Recovery funds. Staff may direct applicants to other funders if applicable.
- Applicants must complete a budget template that identifies all sources of funding. Other sources may include monetary support from other grants, levels of government, or the applicant organization.

Submit the following documentation with your application:
- Completed and signed application form.
- Completed the Revenue Recovery Grant Budget Template (XLSX)
- Letters of Support (if applicable)– from collaboration organizations, other funders and/or in-kind contributors.
- Evidence of registered not-for-profit status:
- Society Annual Report (Form 11) – current, filed with BC Societies Online required by the BC Registry Services Act. More information can be found here
- Society Constitution – must include the Society’s purpose.
- Balance Sheet and Income Statement for two years (either 2019/2020 or 2020/2021) before year targeted for revenue recovery.
