[ARCHIVED] City Thanks Community for CoquitlamSPIRIT

COQUITLAM, B.C., May, 13, 2020 – A new video launched today expresses the City’s gratitude for how the community has pulled together and displayed their CoquitlamSPIRIT through acts of caring and community connections.

The video, available at www.coquitlam.ca/spirit, is the first in a series and expresses thanks to front-line workers, the volunteers who are delivering meals to seniors, and the businesses and neighbours who are stepping up to help others.

Watch for further videos in the coming weeks that will showcase other stories of caring, connections and community.

How You Can Show Your CoquitlamSPIRIT

Visit the Community Support section of the www.coquitlam.ca/coquitlamspirit page for examples of how you can make a difference throughout the community, including the following:

Write a Letter of Kindness

Looking to brighten a senior’s day? Get writing! Submit your letters, poems, drawings or other positive messages to distribute to seniors who have signed up for the City’s meal delivery program. Simply submit a letter or scan your image and email to volunteers@coquitlam.ca.

Sign Up for the Phone Buddy Program

Are you a Coquitlam senior who could use a friendly phone call? Please contact Dogwood Pavilion at 604-927-6098 or Glen Pine Pavilion at 604-927-6940 weekdays to sign up. Volunteers have been vetted and are lined up and ready to get on the line to spread some local cheer.

Painted Rocks

Painted rocks are popping up throughout Coquitlam, created by secret citizens and bringing smiles to passersby. The City would like to thank these local artists for this display of community spirit. Please remember to keep these rocks small in size and out of creeks and waterways. We consider these rocks to be on loan to the park for a temporary measure to take home with you at a later date.

Share Your Story

How are you supporting local and sharing your #coquitlamspirit? Tell us about it! Please send us a message on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, or email us at socialmedia@coquitlam.ca.
