COQUITLAM, B.C., Jan. 18, 2023 – Are you passionate about Coquitlam? Do you have a keen interest in sharing your knowledge and point of view to help shape your community? Applications are currently being accepted for Coquitlam Advisory Committees and the Board of Variance.

Interested residents can read about each committee’s mandate and apply online at www.coquitlam.ca/acv2023. Deadline for submission is 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7.

What are Advisory Committees?

Advisory Committees provide information, advice and recommendations for consideration by Council and staff on specific issues of civic concern. The City is recruiting citizen representatives for the following 2023 committees:

  • Community Safety Advisory Committee
  • Culture Services Advisory Committee
  • Economic Development Advisory Committee
  • Multiculturalism Advisory Committee
  • Sports and Recreation Advisory Committee
  • Sustainability and Environmental Advisory Committee
  • Universal Access-Ability Advisory Committee

Guided by their terms of reference and mandate, Advisory Committee membership varies by committee and includes citizen representatives, organization representatives and Council members to develop an achievable workplan that aligns with the City’s current priorities. You can read about each committee at www.coquitlam.ca/acv2023

Coquitlam’s Strategic Goals

As a public institution, the City of Coquitlam recognizes our unique role in addressing fundamental inequities within Canadian society. We have a responsibility to anticipate and respond to impacts that the emerging macro-environmental challenges impose on our priorities and services. Our work in 2023 is aligned with the City's 2020–2023 Strategic Plan goals, and guided by the City’s Business Plan

If your values align with the City’s priorities, we encourage you to apply.

Board of Variance

The Board of Variance is an independent appeal body. It deals with matters relating to the City’s Zoning Bylaw by hearing and making decisions on minor variances, such as those regarding the siting, size and dimensions of buildings. For more information about the Board, please visit www.coquitlam.ca/acv2023.
