[ARCHIVED] Have Your Say on Improvements to Spani Pool

COQUITLAM, B.C., Aug. 27, 2020 – Residents and user groups are invited to provide their ideas on what’s possible for planned improvements to Spani Outdoor Pool.

The pool is entering its 50th year of service and the City has identified the renewal of the pool as a priority project in both the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan and the Aquatic Services and Infrastructure Strategy.

The Spani Outdoor Pool Renewal Study will define the facility upgrades and the cost, so the City can allocate adequate resources as the project proceeds to design and development, and be well positioned to apply for future infrastructure grant opportunities. The renewal of the pool also provides an excellent opportunity to improve accessibility and inclusivity at the facility.

Public Engagement Opportunity Now Open

The Study will include a collaborative community engagement process to lay the foundation for a fun, inclusive and sustainable public outdoor pool for Coquitlam. Opportunities to provide input and feedback about what’s possible at Spani Outdoor Pool are available at www.letstalkcoquitlam.ca/spani.

The City will also be hosting virtual focus groups throughout the fall with pool user groups and clubs to gain insight into their vision and needs for the future pool amenity.

Input gathered through the consultation will be used to inform the Spani Outdoor Pool Renewal Study, and the decision-making on facility upgrades.
