[ARCHIVED] Citizen Reps Invited to Apply for Library Board and Board of Variance

Volunteering

COQUITLAM, BC, Oct. 1, 2020 – Interested in volunteering your time, sharing your expertise and helping your community? The City of Coquitlam is seeking volunteers for its two statutory committees: Board of Variance and the Coquitlam Public Library Board.

Board of Variance

The five-member volunteer Board generally meets on the third Tuesday of each month (excluding August and December) at 7 p.m. In addition to this time commitment, members are required to read relevant background material, and often undertake site inspections, prior to the meeting. All meetings are open to the public and involve weighing information and evidence received to determine if variances are to be approved or declined.

Council will be appointing two members effective January 2021. Each appointment will be for a three-year term.

Library Board
The Coquitlam Public Library Board is responsible for providing public library services in Coquitlam. There are four vacancies on the Coquitlam Public Library Board starting January 2021. Coquitlam residents who have had some level of community involvement, board experience and a general interest in this field are encouraged to apply. The term of appointment is two years and the appointment is a voluntary position with no remuneration.
