[ARCHIVED] Submit Your Small Business Profile to Coquitlam

Small Business Open

COQUITLAM, BC, Oct. 5, 2020 – Behind every small business is a real person – and often, a local one.

As Small Business Week approaches, Coquitlam is inviting its small businesses to introduce themselves to the community they serve. Businesses with up to 50 employees are encouraged to complete a brief questionnaire at www.coquitlam.ca/businessweek before Oct. 16 for a chance to be profiled during Small Business Week Oct. 18 to 24.

As part of the City’s economic recovery efforts, the initiative will help promote local businesses while highlighting that buying from a local business or restaurant benefits real people in the community.

Shopping Local Helps Locals

With the prevalence of big box and online shopping, it’s easy to forget that money spent at small businesses often stays in the community, providing local residents with a livelihood. Coquitlam has nearly 7,000 licensed businesses, many of them small enterprises run by local residents.

Businesses that complete the City questionnaire will be asked to provide a photo and answer a few questions about themselves, their services and products.

Selected businesses will then be profiled on the City’s website and social media channels during Small Business Week, allowing residents to meet the people behind the local stores and restaurants they frequent.

About Small Business Week

BDC Small Business Week is an annual celebration of entrepreneurship that the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) has organized for over 40 years. During the coronavirus pandemic, Canadian entrepreneurs have once again shown their courage and ability to adapt. This year, BDC Small Business Week is recognizing their resilience, trying to understand what has changed for Canadian businesses and looking to build for the future in these uncertain times.
