[ARCHIVED] Town Centre Recycling Depot Reopens

COQUITLAM, B.C., June 18, 2020 – Coquitlam residents can once again bring their household recyclables to the Town Centre Recycling Depot, which has reopened with safety measures in place to protect residents and staff.

Located on Trevor Wingrove Way just west of Pipeline Road, the depot returned to its regular hours today – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Wednesday to Sunday, except for holidays – after closing in March as part of the public health closure of City facilities.

Depot Implements New Safety Procedures

Based on the new safety protocols, a maximum of four household groups will be permitted inside at one time.

Patrons do not have to wear gloves or masks, but must physically distance and follow the new directional arrows in place to direct foot traffic.

Sanitized pushcarts, similar to those at bottle depots, will be available for use. Staff are on site as usual to assist patrons and to ensure the measures are being followed.

Household Recycling Only Accepted

Patrons may drop off household recycling such as:

  • Cardboard
  • Paper (including newspaper and softcover/hardcover books)
  • Containers (including plastic, metal and glass, and non-refundable cartons)
  • White Styrofoam (including packing and food-related containers)
  • Household batteries
  • Plastic bags
  • Reading books (for donation)

Materials may only be dropped off during regular depot hours. The site is monitored by cameras, and those who drop off items outside the gates after hours may be fined.

Residents can also drop off recyclables for free at these other locations:

  • Coquitlam Return-It Depot, 2560 Barnet Hwy.
  • Lougheed Return-It Depot, 1045A Lougheed Hwy.
  • Coquitlam Transfer Station, 1200 United Blvd.

More details are posted at www.coquitlam.ca/recycling.
