Upgrades Coming for Percy Perry Stadium at Town Centre Park

The rubber track at Coquitlam's Percy Perry Stadium

COQUITLAM, B.C., May 4, 2023 – Improvements are coming to Coquitlam’s Percy Perry Stadium at Town Centre Park as City staff prepare for a full replacement of the track and artificial turf field.

From mid-May until fall 2023, the rubber track and artificial turf field in the centre of the track will be closed while the replacement and improvements take place. Other facilities including Mobilio and Fridge fields, change rooms, washrooms and covered seating area will stay open during construction.

Coquitlam’s Premier Track and Field Amenity

Originally built in 1991, Percy Perry Stadium Stadium has become Coquitlam’s premier outdoor sports facility and a key amenity in Town Centre Park. The stadium not only features a wide breadth of track and field amenities including throwing area, long-jump and high-jump, but it is also a popular facility for recreational walkers and runners. The track also hosts an average of 20 track meets annually and is home to the Coquitlam Cheetahs Track and Field Club. The Cheetahs will be accommodated at other Coquitlam facilities during construction.

The track and field facilities were last upgraded in 2011 and the artificial turf sports field in the centre of the track is more than 10-years old and is due for a replacement. In order to maximize cost efficiencies and limit disruption to these key recreational amenities, both the track renewal and artificial turf replacement are planning to be completed at the same time in 2023. This work will ensure that the track and field amenities remain of a high standard and will allow Percy Perry Stadium to continue to be Coquitlam’s preeminent sports hosting venue.

Alternative Walking Loops

While the track at Percy Perry Stadium is being replaced, visitors are invited to try the following alternative walking loops:
