Coquitlam Celebrates Seniors' Week

Seniors Week is almost here and we have a variety of safe, in-person activities and virtual programs planned so check them out and sign up today. You can ice skate, try zentangle art, and explore the world of rhythm through drums and shakers – all for free.  Virtual sessions use Zoom video conferencing and all activities require pre-registration.

National AccessAbility Week

Supporting Recreation Access


May 30 to June 5 is AccessAbility Week. Did you know that we provide programs and supports to encourage people of all ages and abilities to participate in recreation?

Opportunities include recreation support plans that provide assistance to program participants, downloadable illustrated stories to prepare a child for camps or programs, adapted fitness equipment, sensory-friendly swim times and more.

Garden Club Plant Sale

Dogwood Garden Club and Park Spark


Add some plants to your summer garden and safely connect with like-minded gardeners. Join the Park Spark team and the Dogwood Garden Club for a plant sale on Saturday, June 12 at Hillcrest Middle School (2161 Regan Ave).
 
Dogwood Garden Club members are selling perennials and other amazing plants from their gardens. Admission is free but pre-registration is required

Safe, Indoor Fitness is Back

Fit 360, Low Impact and More


Great news! Due to Provincial Health Order updates, low-impact, indoor fitness classes are available at Dogwood and Glen Pine Pavilions. Register for Fit 360, Low Impact and more for June, and more classes will be added throughout the summer.
 
Safety protocols are in place at all City facilities to ensure the safety of program participants and staff. In compliance with the Provincial Mask Mandate Order, masks are mandatory at all times, including when exercising indoors.

Pop-up Parks

City Centre Open


The City Centre Pop-up Park is now open at the corner of Atlantic Ave. and Baldwin St. next to Coquitlam Centre, thanks to a temporary donation of the land by Morguard Properties.
 
Hit the urban beach for sandcastle building, sand volleyball games, and enjoy lawn games and ping pong; or relax in a beach chair or hammock, read a good book and enjoy the spring flowers.

Spotlight on Sport

Kids Sport ‘Try-Its' in June


We have three exciting sport 'try-its' for kids ages six to 12 running weekly in June at Town Centre Park (1299 Pinetree Way), including baseball, rugby and soccer. Kids will learn the fundamentals of the sport and proper technique. All equipment is provided.

Special thanks to local Coquitlam sports associations for partnering with us to offer these great programs.

Good news – the fitness centre at Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex will reopen on Monday, June 7, with pre-registration available 48-hours in advance. The pool will be closed until June 27, reopening on June 28.
