Celebrate Culture Days

Street Dance Battle


Watch street dancers battle it out and learn a few moves yourself as Coquitlam celebrates Culture Days.

Some of the best street dancers in Metro Vancouver will face off in three high-energy exhibition dance battles on Sunday, Sept. 26 from 2 to 4 p.m. on the TD Community Plaza stage in Town Centre Park, hosted by Kevin "Shazam" Li and Alyssa "Luscious Brown" Amarshi. This free, family-friendly event will be held rain or shine.

November and December Programs 

Register Now


Online and phone-in registration is now available for November and December recreation programs. There are programs for all ages and abilities, including:

  • Early Years (0 – 5 yrs) Gymnastics, Zumbini and Multi-Ball;

  • Children (6 – 12 yrs) Craft and Creations, Fencing and Skating;

  • Youth (11 – 18 yrs) Girls Night In, Hockey 101, Drama and Acting; and

  • Adult (19 yrs+) Drawing for Beginners, Talks and Lectures, and Chair Yoga.

 
Proof of vaccination is required for anyone 12 years and older to attend the weight room, gymnasium, group fitness or dance activities Youth-specific (12 - 21 yrs) programming is exempt. For more information, visit coquitlam.ca/covid19.

Weight Room Updates

Glen Pine Pavilion and the Innovation Centre


Fitness enthusiasts can now drop-in at the Glen Pine Pavilion weight room as 48-hour pre-registration is no longer required.
 
The weight room at the Innovation Centre still requires 48-hour pre-registration; however, there is no session time limit. Simply pre-register for the day and drop-in anytime.
 
Proof of vaccination is required for anyone 12 years and older to attend the weight room and a government issued piece of ID is also required for adults 22 years and older.

Free Fruits and Vegetables


Looking for a healthy snack? Good news – a new pilot program between the City’s Corporate Partners program and Oppy, a Coquitlam-based food production and distribution company, is delivering a variety of seasonal fresh produce each Wednesday for child and youth recreation programs at Pinetree and Poirier Community Centres.
 
The foods will be used in youth centres, as well as recreational cooking programs and learning sessions about food, and will be made available as snacks at drop-in sessions.

Home Alone Safety

Course for Kids Ages 10 to 13


Want to ensure your child has the knowledge and skills to be safe and responsible at home alone for short periods of time? Register for the Home Alone Safety Program led by a Child Safe Canada Instructor. The course will help kids understand how to prevent programs, handle real-life situations, and keep safe and occupied.
 
The course runs Sundays, Sept. 26 to Oct. 24 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. at Pinetree Community Centre. Click the link below to register.

Join us for a free evening of fun, games and tunes on Saturdays, Sept. 11 to Nov. 13 from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Percy Perry stadium field at Town Centre Park. A variety of sports equipment will be available for use – including a giant soccer ball! All ages and abilities are welcome.

Block Parties

Grants Doubled in 2021


Coquitlam residents can apply for a $300 grant to support their 2021 block party. These fun, social gatherings are a great way to meet or reconnect with neighbours. Registered block parties also benefit from free liability insurance.
