City Centre Aquatic Complex is Open

New Fitness Centre and Studio Space


Good news – the renovation and expansion of the City Centre Aquatic Complex is now complete and the facility is fully reopened to the public. Check out the larger fitness centre with new equipment in a bright, reorganized space. There is also a new fitness studio that will allow for increased group fitness the facility, including spin classes.

Prior to finalizing the building plan for the Northeast Community Centre, we’re sharing the draft plans as guided by public input and industry experts, and we are seeking community feedback to help inform next steps and help shape this future community facility.
 
Get involved by visiting the project webpage, joining us in person or participating online in an information session, and completing the survey online from Dec. 7, 2021 to Jan. 14, 2022.

Park Spark Pop-up Activities


Enhance your experience while visiting Lights at Lafarge. Drop-in for weekly pop-up activities with the Park Spark Light Brigade, rain or shine. Click the link below to view the pop-up activities running Friday, Dec. 3 – Thursday, Dec. 9.

Power Soccer Open Play at Pinetree

Partnership with SportAbility BC


We’ve partnered with SportAbility BC to offer a free Power Soccer open play session on Saturday, Dec. 18 at Pinetree Community Centre (1260 Pinetree Way). Power Soccer is a sport played by people who use power wheelchairs.
 
This is a great intro to the sport and is also suitable for active players to further develop their power soccer skills. Deadline to register is Monday, Dec. 6. Click the link below to sign up.

Neighbours Helping Neighbours

Volunteer to be a Snow Angel


Snow can be fun for some and a nuisance for others. Lend a helping hand this winter by becoming a Snow Angel and assist those who are unable to clear their City sidewalks. Volunteers are paired with neighbours in need, who are within walking distance.

Get Winter Ready 

Partnership with Parks Canada


We've partnered with Parks Canada to offer a free Outdoor Winter Ready program on Sunday, Dec. 12 from 2 to 3 p.m. Learn how to dress for cold temperatures, what to pack for a winter excursion and how you can stay safe while enjoying the frosty weather. This course will be delivered virtually, using the Zoom platform.

SportMedBC: Overuse Injury


Join us for an interactive session on Wednesday, Dec. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mundy Park Field House (628 Hillcrest St.) where SportMedBC Safety Instructors will guide participants through the most up-to-date best practices in sport safety, injury prevention and injury management.
