Celebrate Family Day in Coquitlam

Feb. 19 to 21


Get ready for a fun-filled weekend as we celebrate Family Day in Coquitlam. We have some great in-person opportunities to help you create memories and celebrate safely. There is something for all ages and abilities, with activities running Saturday, Feb. 19 through to the holiday Monday, Feb. 21. Go for a skate or take a dip in the pool, play sports, go on a guided nature walk, or celebrate at home.

COVID-19 Update

Restrictions Changing for Recreation Activities

Following the Provincial Health Officer update on gatherings and events on Tuesday, the City of Coquitlam will be taking steps to return City recreation programming to full capacity. Watch the COVID-19 page for updates as they become available.

Drop-in Activities at Summit and Smiling Creek

Pass, Shoot and Play


Ready to get back on the court? Stay active and connect with others safely in fun and engaging drop-in programs at Summit Community Centre (1450 Parkway Blvd.) and Smiling Creek Activity Centre (3456 Princeton Ave.). Check out badminton for everyone 7 years and older, youth volleyball and adult basketball, pickleball and volleyball. Please note, pre-registration is required for some of these activities.

Adult Skating and Hockey Opportunities Available

Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex


Adults over 50 can lace up their skates and get on the ice during drop-in activities on Mondays and Tuesdays. Take advantage of a low-cost Toonie Skate on Mondays from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. or grab your hockey stick and pads for Drop-in Hockey on Tuesdays from 10:45 a.m. – 12 p.m. Regular drop-in rates apply and if you play as a goalie it’s free to participate.

Coquitlam in Bloom is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of Coquitlam residents, volunteers and businesses, while providing a focus on activities that bring people together and promote community spirit.
 
This year’s theme is ‘Year of the Garden’ which encourages residents of all ages and abilities to learn more about growing, enjoying and experiencing gardens, and all the vital quality-of-life benefits they provide.

Special Skates in February

Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex

 
Join us for special drop-in themed-skates this month at Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex. No pre-registration is required—skates are first come, first served. Family rates apply, unless otherwise specified.


  • Family Day Skates – Monday, Feb. 21, 10:30 –11:45 a.m. / 12 – 1:15 p.m. / 1:30 – 2:45 p.m. An outing for the whole family, spend some quality time together building memories on the ice.
  • Pink Shirt Day Toonie Skate – Wednesday, Feb. 23, 6:45 – 8 p.m. Wear your Pink Shirt and join the skate against bullying. Toonie admission includes rentals.

The Art Gallery at Evergreen (AGE) is delighted to announce the launch of Angeline Simon: All that we carry, a new Public Art Installation opening this month at Lafarge Lake-Douglas SkyTrain station. Featuring a series of lens-based works by Angeline Simon, this special installation marks the first partnership of its kind between Evergreen Cultural Centre (ECC) and TransLink, and is one of two new AGE exhibitions participating in the Capture Photography Festival this spring.
 
Angeline Simon: All that we carry will be available to view until February 2023.
