Coquitlam Recognizes Day of Mourning

Recreation Service Updates

On Sept. 19, 2022, Coquitlam will recognize a National Day of Mourning to mark the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. As a result, certain civic facilities in Coquitlam will be closed or operate with reduced service levels.

Most drop-in and registered programs will operate as usual, however School District 43 sites (Summit Community Centre, and Smiling Creek and Centennial Activity Centres) will be closed. For questions about specific programs, please visit www.coquitlam.ca/registration or call 604-927-4386.

Coquitlam Aquatics Update

Transition to Lifesaving Society

Did you hear? Earlier this year, the Canadian Red Cross announced that it’s winding down swimming and lifeguarding programs to focus on surging humanitarian demands.

As a result, we’re transitioning from the Canadian Red Cross Swim Kids program to the Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life program for winter 2023 lessons. This transition will not affect fall 2022 swimming lessons.

Click the link below to view the lesson conversion chart. If you have questions about this transition, connect with staff by calling 604-927-4386 or emailing prcs_info@coquitlam.ca.
