Coquitlam Aquatics Update

Conversion Chart Available

 
As Coquitlam transitions to the Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life program for winter 2023 swimming lessons, look for the handout and swimming lesson conversion chart. Use this chart to determine which Lifesaving Society Swim for Life program swimmers will move into based on their current or previous Red Cross Swim Kids program before registering for your next swimming lesson.

The conversion chart is also available to view and download at coquitlam.ca/aquatics.

Registration for winter 2023 swimming lessons begins Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Fall Programs in Full Swing


The City’s new Maillardville Community Centre (1200 Cartier Ave.) is open and offering lots of fun drop-in fitness classes, cooking classes, social activities and other educational programs this fall. The facility provides programs for all ages and abilities, a lounge for youth and seniors, plus convenient underground parking.

Fall Fun with Coquitlam Parks

Inspiration Garden

 
Join Coquitlam’s Parks teams for a variety of free, family-friendly fall activities at the Inspiration Garden in Town Centre Park on Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 2:30 – 6 p.m., rain or shine. Learn tips for winter gardening from City gardeners, create elements for this year’s Lights at Lafarge display, snap a photo with our fall decorated Parks equipment and learn about the importance of Coquitlam’s tree canopy as part of Coquitlam’s Tree Spree initiative. Come dressed in costume for a chance to win a prize.

CCAC Now Open

Annual Maintenance Complete

 
Goods news! The annual maintenance at City Centre Aquatic Complex (1210 Pinetree Way) is complete and the pools are now open to swimmers. With CCAC reopening, Eagle Ridge Pool has now closed for the season. Please note that the whirlpool at CCAC remains closed for continued maintenance.

Girls Night In


Hey YOUth! Join other girls from the community for fun activities, including games, crafts, dancing and singing, or just come hang out for Girls Night In Tuesdays, Oct. 18 – Nov. 15 from 6:45 – 8 p.m. at Pinetree Community Centre (1260 Pinetree Way). Come with ideas as you’ll have a say in what we do during the program. This is a great opportunity to meet others in the community.
 
Girls Night In is found in the Youth Lifelong Learning section of the online registration system as one of the Life Skills programs. Click the link below to learn more and register.

Message of Remembrance and Painted Poppy

 
Join the Park Spark team from Nov. 1 – 10 to honour those who have served our country. Write a message and tie it to a tree with yellow ribbon and paint a poppy on the grass along Veteran’s Way in Blue Mountain Park (975 King Albert Ave.) as part of a temporary display.

Swing Night

 
Put on your dancing shoes and swing the night away with the Scott Robertson Swing Band on Friday, Nov. 25 from 5:45 – 9:30 p.m. at Glen Pine Pavilion (1200 Glen Pine Crt.). They play a variety of tunes inspired by the Swing era. Come hungry – meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy and vegetables are on the menu. Plus, make your own sundae for dessert.

Join the Park Spark Light Brigade and help fabricate lit elements for the lights display on Oct. 14 and 28 from 3 – 5 p.m. at the Innovation Centre (1207 Pinetree Way) and Oct. 18, 27 and 29 from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Inspiration Garden (north of Guildford way on Pipeline Rd.).
