Spani Pool Renewal Renovation and Expansion Begins Visitors to Coquitlam’s Spani Pool in Mundy Park can look forward to an expanded and renovated facility as construction work is starting. Once complete for summer 2024, the renovated outdoor pool will include a new leisure pool with shallow beach entry, splash area, lazy river and a 1.2-metre deep end. A new warming pool close to the forest edge will provide therapeutic opportunities for visitors in a natural setting – which was a common theme in the public feedback on the project. The existing tank will be renovated and made more accessible, and other site improvements include new change rooms, washrooms, a multi-purpose room, a concession and more spectator seating. These plans maximize the future programming potential of the pool and make it inclusive for all ages and abilities. For more info about the project, including renderings of the renovated facility, click the link below. SPANI POOL

GoHere Washroom Access Coquitlam First City in B.C. to Support ProgramCoquitlam is the first B.C. city to support Crohn's and Colitis Canada's Washroom Access Program, and has identified 36 municipal washroom facilities, which have been added to the GoHere App. The locations include washrooms in parks, recreation centres and other City-owned facilities. Washroom access is a medical necessity for many individuals that live with various medical or chronic conditions, including those with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. The GoHere App assures those living with these conditions the ability to locate community washrooms and help them to break free from the anxiety and stress they face when leaving their homes. Featured in the free-to-download GoHere app, the ‘Washroom Locator’ helps to identify the closest available washrooms. Individuals with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis may have to use the washroom 20 or more times a day. LEARN MORE
