Youth Activities and Programs 

Maillardville Community Centre 

Maillardville Community Centre (1200 Cartier Ave.) has lots of great activities and programs for youth starting soon. 

Join us in the youth lounge for free drop-in times Mondays to Thursdays from 3 – 7 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 3 – 8 p.m. There are opportunities for cooking, video games, foosball, board games and more. 

Check out these pre-teen preparedness workshops too –  Home Alone (10 – 13 yrs) and  Babysitting Training (10 – 14 yrs).

Neighbourhood Small Grants

Grants Now Available

Do you have an idea for a low-cost project that will help make Coquitlam safe, stronger or more connected? 

Applications for Neighbourhood Small Grants (NSG) between $50 and $500 will be accepted until April 18 through a continuing partnership between the City of Coquitlam, Coquitlam Foundation the Vancouver Foundation and the Association of Neighbourhood Houses of BC. Grants will support projects in Coquitlam that bring people together, tackle social isolation and build a stronger community.

Examples of projects that received funding in 2022 include paint nights, building pollinator hotels in local neighbourhoods, overdose awareness events, writing groups for youth and more.

With spring around the corner, we’re offering registered recreation programs in local parks, fields and trails. Watch for new outdoor recreation programs over the weeks and months to come, including mountain biking camps, opportunities to learn to fish, hiking presentations and meetups, all-day summer camps, Baby-and-Me hikes, Eco Trekker programs for early years children, and more.

School Tours at the Inspiration Garden

Join Coquitlam’s Park Spark team for fun school tours at the Inspiration Garden in Town Centre Park. Discover the many creatures that help turn food scraps and yard waste into garden gold in Compost Works, learn about different stages of a plant’s life in Plant Lifecycles, see why pollination is important in Pollinator Power, and discover the world that lives beneath our feet in Wormy Workshop/Dirt Detectives.
