1. What is the Frontage Works Program?

The City’s Frontage Works Program requirements ensure that all new homes built in southwest Coquitlam contribute to upgrading adjacent streetscapes to a modern urban standard, including curbs, gutters, sidewalks, lighting and landscaping. The Frontage Works Program helps create a consistent streetscape and improve safety. The City completes a number of improvement projects each year, on a block by block basis.

3. Will parking be impacted during construction?

Street parking will be impacted when work takes place in the area. The selected contractor will post ‘no parking’ signs with dates and times clearly noted on the signs.

4. Will parking be impacted after construction?

There will be changes to street parking once the project is complete, especially near intersections and across from streets or lanes.

5. Will traffic be impacted?

Traffic flow will be impacted during construction. Single lane alternating traffic will be in effect, and there will be occasional turn restrictions at intersections during construction. At times, traffic will be detoured – detour signs will be in place.

6. Will my driveway access be impacted?

The driveway access letdown on City property will be limited to the City’s standard width of either 4.5 metres or 6.0 metres, whichever is closest to the existing driveway access. For example, if the existing driveway access is 4.0 metres, a 4.5 metre driveway letdown will be provided. If the existing driveway access is 8.0 metres, a 6.0 metre driveway letdown will be provided.

7. Why does the sidewalk stop at Bartlett Avenue?

The new sidewalk along the east side of Gatensbury Street will extend from Como Lake Avenue to just past Bartlett Avenue. We are not extending it north, for two reasons: 

• steep grade and impact to existing driveways, and
• there is no existing sidewalk on the Port Moody side to connect with.
