Current Volunteer Opportunities

Joining a Coquitlam Committee or Board is a great way to make an impact in your community in 20​20. Committees provide information and well-considered advice for consideration by Council and City staff in their area of interest. It’s easy to apply! 

Coquitlam City Council is seeking volunteers from the public to serve on the following Advisory Committees: 

Interested applicants are required to submit an application form that demonstrates passion for the community as well as any knowledge relevant to the committee(s) ​the applicant is applying for. Note that ​applicants may apply to serve on more than one committee.


Completed applications must be submitted online or postmarked by Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 11:00 p.m. Don’t miss your chance to volunteer! 

Meeting Schedules and Time Commitment

Time requirements vary among the Committees (e.g. monthly, bi-monthly and quarterly) and meetings typically occur on weekday evenings. In general, Committees do not meet in August or December. Please refer to the 2020 Advisory and Statutory Committee Meeting Schedule to see when the respective Committees typically meet.


As these are volunteer positions, successful candidates serve without remuneration.

How Appointments are Made

Appointments to Coquitlam’s Advisory Committees and Boards are made by City Council. All applicants will receive a letter from the City Clerk’s Office in 2020 confirming Council’s appointments.

Qualifications Required

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Applicants may not be employees of the City of Coquitlam
  • Applicants who live in the City of Coquitlam are preferred, or must be a representative of an organization operating in the City of Coquitlam
  • Applicants of all ages, genders, neighbourhoods, cultural origins, income levels, sexual orientations and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply, in order to appoint representatives of the broader community, and to address the issues of those communities
  • Applicants should be able to serve for the full term of the appointment (2 years - Library Board, 1 year - Advisory Committees)
