- Before being elected in 2013 Bonita spent 20 years in sales, marketing and consumer research with a number of multi-national companies.
- She is married with three children.
- Bonita moved back West, to Coquitlam in 2010 after spending 15 years working in Eastern Canada and the U.S.
- Bonita sat on the Arts and Culture Advisory Committee for the City of Coquitlam in 2012 as a member at large.
- Bonita holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Manitoba, is a certified Programmer/Analyst, and holds a Professional Management Certificate in Human Resources from the University of Calgary.

- Member of the Metro Vancouver Aboriginal Relations Committee
- Council Representative to the Fraser Health Municipal Government Advisory Council
