Volunteers Needed for Canada Day

by Colleen Smith |

COQUITLAM, BC, June 27, 2016 – Coquitlam’s Canada Day celebrations are fast approaching and the City is looking for volunteers who like to have a lot of fun and get involved in special events.

There are many roles available to suit different interests and skills:

  • Activity Attendant – General, Arts Village, Green Village
  • Event Set Up and/or Tear Down Crew
  • Food & Hospitality Volunteers
  • Green Village Salmon Mascot
  • Logistics Volunteer
  • Parking Attendant

These volunteer opportunities are a great way to try something new, meet other members of the community, and log a good amount of volunteer hours over a short time period. Past volunteers have benefited from hands-on experience and a letter of reference that have assisted in future job placement.

To volunteer for Canada Day, participants are required to attend an orientation session at Pinetree Community Centre (1260 Pinetree Way) on Wednesday, June 29 from 6 – 8 p.m. This session will provide details about Coquitlam’s Canada Day and explain the volunteer roles as well as provide event location details.

If you have already registered with the City as a volunteer, simply log into www.myvolunteerpage.com and register for the event. If you have never applied to volunteer for special events with the City or would like more information, contact the Volunteer Services Team at 604-927-6922 or volunteers@coquitlam.ca.
