COQUITLAM, BC, September 20, 2016 – Mundy Park users now have access to a new and improved public washroom and field house facility.

The official opening of the Mundy Park Field House, on Wednesday, Sept. 21, is timed with the Coquitlam 2016 55+ BC Games taking place Sept. 20 – 24, 2016. Mundy Park’s baseball diamonds, located adjacent to the new field house, are one of many venue locations across Coquitlam hosting the annual, multi-sport competition.

The new facility replaces an aging field house in the same location, at 629 Hillcrest Street on the west side of Mundy Park. The facility is now a flexible, multi-purpose, single-storey building that will benefit park users, sports clubs, and the community at large.

Upgrades include improved washroom facilities, in-season storage for sport equipment, a basic kitchenette for user group concessions and public rental, and a multi-purpose user space for City programs, community and sports groups, or rental to the general public.

The building was completed on schedule and at a total capital cost of $1.44 million. The new field house meets the current and growing needs of the community who use this very large and much-loved park.
