by User Not Found |

COQUITLAM, BC, May 30, 2017 – Coquitlam’s Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex (633 Poirier Street) will undergo its annual maintenance closure from June 5 to July 2 inclusively, re-opening on July 3. The arena will stay open during this time period. The fitness centre at Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex will be closed June 5 to June 11 inclusively, re-opening on June 12.

Annual maintenance is needed in order to meet public safety standards and service expectations. The pool is open to the public 16 hours per day, every day, and the systems run continuously. Annual maintenance closures are required to perform work that cannot be completed while the facility is in use. These closures are essential for extending the life of the City’s assets. They reduce the likelihood of program interruptions due to mechanical failure and help to ensure a safe environment for all staff and patrons.

Some of the maintenance work will include:

  • Draining the pools and deep cleaning the tanks;
  • Re-grouting tile work as needed;
  • Repainting walls and ceilings in the change rooms, on the deck and in the fitness centre;
  • Replacing damaged wood and heating element in sauna;
  • Deep cleaning of fitness centre and fitness equipment, lockers, change rooms, shower facilities, lifejackets and pool toys;
  • Inspection and service as needed of all mechanical systems.

Patrons can still swim in Coquitlam at City Centre Aquatic Complex (1210 Pinetree Way), Eagle Ridge Outdoor Pool (2689 Guildford Way) and Spani Outdoor Pool (655 Hillcrest Street). Pool schedules can be found at www.coquitlam.ca/aquatics.

The fitness centres at City Centre Aquatic Complex (1210 Pinetree Way), Pinetree Community Centre (1260 Pinetree Way) and Glen Pine Pavilion (1200 Glen Pine Court) will be open for patrons to drop into. Your ONE PASS is accepted at all Coquitlam recreation facilities.
